 Institute Notes 4/14/22

Because of Him Easter Video - Most powerful parts are when he walks out of building with authority. When every knee bows before Him. He alone kept all of God's and was the ultimate king with authority from God.

Judas complaining about the money spent on the ointment is similar to detractors complaining about temples being built. Saving ordinances are essential and help us take Christ upon us.

Christ was a gracious receiver. He accepted the palm leaves. Real power comes from keeping God's laws. Let credit be given to the true kind. The creator or king of nature would suffer.

"Only kings and conquerors received such an extraordinary token of respect as this. In every part of the triumphal entry to Jerusalem, Jesus seems not only to permit but to court the adulation and homage normally reserved for kings and great rulers." Bruce R. McConkie

"No other man ever lived to whom such inspired acclamations of adulation, reverence, and worship have been or could properly be made. Here we have great multitudes bearing testimony of our Lord's divine Sonship. In plain language they are hailing Jesus as the Son of David, the Deliverer of Israel, the Savior and Redeemer, the promised Messiah, the Son of God. And they are doing it wittingly, deliberately using the sacred expression, Hosanna, and quoting from the Messianic prophecy which ascribes salvation and triumph to the promised Son of David." Doctrinal New Testament Commentary

"Every individual assigned from before the foundation of the world to participate in the moral experience on earth was and is connected to this very moment." (Teaching and Commentaries on the New Testament)

He descended below all things to lift us above both sin and death.

John 12:28 He glorified His father's name and is told He will again. God accepts by meager offerings. Just as the Savior was told He would again glorify God. God expressed multiple times that He was pleased with Him. I can trust that God accepts my meager offerings. Things like having the children looking sharp for church, magnifying my calling, trying to pattern my home after the temple are like palm leaves I offer to Him.

I should also tell people when I am pleased.

Jesus Christ is the light shining through the clouds. He good news. God sees and recognizes my hidden sacrifices. He is the creator and will not judge by appearances. He is the God of nature. He has power over death and can actually make a physical resurrection occur.

He calls the temple, "My house."

The gift of discernment is given through the Holy Ghost. The priests wouldn't believe He was the true king. They probably were hurt financially from vendors being kicked out of the temple. When we put our trust in false Gods or false idols we in reality aren't being our authentic selves. Our true selves is only found in our identity as children of an All-powerful God. Also, Christ said that if any man will do my will he will now if it is of God. I can act in faith by paying tithing, fulfilling callings, honoring the Sabbath etc. and then the confirmation of truth will follow. When covenants are kept with a broken heart and contrite Spirit, the power of God is able to enter my life and honors specific covenants kept.

Christ showed great courage. I am also expected to show great courage. He said, "Father, take this cup from me." There is no rejection, discouragement, pain, heartache, regret or temptation He hasn't felt with me. Although at times I may feel alone, in reality, no one for whom He has sacrificed is ever alone. He will send His Spirit to help me through hard times as I am trying to repent and keep covenants.

At night, he must have been so exhausted, hungry and thirsty.

3 days in the tomb were spent in the Spirit World.

Easter Victory is a chance to change.

The lamb of God was sacrificed. I am asked to sacrifice myself by giving God a broken heart and contrite spirit. By wanted His will more than my own will.

What can I give at the alter? My time, talents and means. My wicked tendencies. As President Nelson asked, "a fair share of my time."

Ask myself, "Would the Lord be pleased?"

Can He trust me?

Ryan asking why to pray if the Lord already knows. It's about the relationship. He knows, he is reliable. We can talk with Him. "Remember that?  I'm still struggling with it... etc."
