While driving Jonathan out to college in Oklahoma, we ran into a long line of stop-and-go traffic in northern AZ. Whereas we would normally have had enough gas to get to the next city (Payson), because of the traffic ram, we ended up being stuck on the side of road on empty. I was debating what to do and flagged down emergency vehicles but they were too busy helping others ahead of us. I talked with a guy in a tow truck but he didn't have gas. I ended up just asking trucks slowing driving by if anyone had gas. Thankfully, the second truck I stopped did have gas and stopped and gave us two gallons to get to Payson. It made me think of the story of the 10 virgins and how I never want to be in that situation where I don't have enough fuel spiritually.
I had the thought that Jesus loved people who mocked him and treated him poorly for no reason. How did He respond? How should I respond when people I love sinfully hurt me? He set the example so I can learn.
