Thoughts on Helping Those We Love

I was at the temple concerned about one of my sons. The thought came to me that I need to that him like a kind and priest in-the-making. I need to speak to him with that in my mind because it will change the way I see him and hopefully the way he sees himself to align more closely with who God knows He is.

I heard a joke on the Hank Smith and John Bytheway Follow Him podcast, John, said something about praying about a child and saying, "What are you going to do about this boy of yours." Kind of putting the responsibility for the ownership of the misbehavior on God. It actually brought me some relief to think that this child is His child and was His before he was mine so He is also fully invested in his salvation with me, in fact, even more than me.

Another thought I had while taking the sacrament. "It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks of him. He is valued beyond measure, beloved, powerful son of Mine."
